The past year could be described in a multitude of ways: trying, exasperating, disheartening, vexing, or interminable.
But it was also a year that demanded we challenge our singularity, the definition of our agency, and whether the current circumstances accurately exhibit our identity as a society. It forced those who were previously comfortable with the status quo to reconsider which side of history they should stand. It has required us, the staff of 12th Street, to come to terms with our legacy, and that to me is groundbreaking.
In the spirit of advancement, our team here at 12th Street has decided to forego tradition by replacing the annual distribution of our journal with constant publication on our year-round digital magazine. Our online presence will be dutifully updated every week, and will feature the latest in Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, Art, or Interviews. We have repurposed the Blog portion of our site to be engaged with all the happenings in our fair city, and, more particularly, a running dialogue within the art community. And, for those of you who are new to the journal, all of our past issues and blog posts can be found within the Archives portion of the site.
We at 12th Street have been tirelessly committed towards revamping our model in an effort to produce a literary journal that not only celebrates the skilled and accomplished undergraduate student body of The New School, but also the Riggio alumni that so readily graced these halls before us. Your steady endorsement as readers and contributors is all the evidence we require to continue.
We sincerely appreciate and welcome all of your support.
Respectfully,
Tucker C. Newsome
